In commemoration of The Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CAREB-ACCER) Silver Jubilee, this year’s CAREB 2025 Annual Conference theme, Past Advances and Future Considerations for Ethical Research, reflects on the journey of the research ethics community – where we have been and where we need to go. Occurring April 29, 2025 - May 1, 2025 the 2025 conference will focus on a number of topics of importance and relevance in the research and research ethics ecosystem, including Keynote sessions on Community Impact & Community Representation, Human Research Ethics Governance and Privacy, Open Science & Research Data Management as well as 2 Panel discussions, a Past Presidents panel that will share reflections and advice for the future of research ethics, and a panel focusing on Hot Topics in Research Ethics. This conference will include presentations and workshops focused on artificial intelligence, consent, research ethics administration and review models and the responsible conduct of research among other topics and will examine historical frameworks and explore how they must adapt to address emerging ethical challenges arising from new, innovative study designs and technologies
