I have a student who stated they are presenting at a conference in November. The data they plan to present on is an observation of a public forum. They are requesting if they need IRB approval for this and I am not sure how to respond. I've tried to search through OHRP and regulations and I am unsure if this meets the definition of human subjects research and if it would be required for IRB review/approval.
