Mentoring Program Enrollment Instructions

PRIM&R Members Can Get Started in Four Simple Steps

  1. Review and update your profile information.

Review your PRIM&R Online Community profile. Make sure your contact information is up to date, and if you haven’t already, add a recent professional profile picture, expand on your bio and share your relevant education and job history. Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of selection and matching.

Make your profile is searchable by opting-in to the member directory and community rosters in your privacy settings. This will allow other other Mentoring Program participants to find you.

Once your profile is complete, return to this page and proceed to enrollment.

  2. Enroll as a mentor, mentee, or both.

Whether you want to participate as a mentor or mentee, you’ll need to enroll.

      •   Enroll as a Mentor
      •   Enroll as a Mentee

If you want to participate as both a mentor and mentee, you should complete both enrollments. You can update your enrollment preferences at any time during your participation in the program.

Who should be a mentor? Research ethics professionals from all branches of the field are needed to help build the next generation of leaders. If you’ve been involved in the field for more than two years, we are certain there is a mentee who would be thrilled to learn from your experience.

Who should be a mentee? Anyone in the field of research ethics who feels they have unanswered questions or could benefit from the advice of an experienced professional. Mentees should be genuinely interested in learning, developing their skill set, and responding to thoughtful advice.
  3. Search for a mentor or mentee.

Use the Mentoring Program Directories to input your search criteria. Start by selecting the topic(s) of interest which include:

      •   Responsibility Areas
      •   Mentoring Topics
      •   Institution/Organization Type
      •   Communication Preference
      •   Desired Communication Frequency
      •   Years of Experience

  4. Send a mentor or mentee request.

Once you've searched in the directory for a mentor or mentee, click on the member's name that you're interested in establishing a mentor/mentee connection with. The link will bring you to their profile page. Look around. If you think it's a desired match, look under their profile image for the mentor/mentee request button, which when clicked will allow you to request a connection.

If it's not a desired match, you can simply select the back button to return to your previous search results. Once you see someone you’d like to connect with, you can send them a mentor or mentee request.
